Our daily routines and programs come from a belief that children are competent, resourceful and capable of making their own decisions about their learning. We provide a wide range of educational and stimulating play spaces and materials that encourage children to become independent learners.
During the day we provide opportunities for older and younger children to have time to themselves. Small group time and the provision of developmentally appropriate activities cater to the individual needs of each child and their age group. Our Art Educator also works with small groups of children, allowing them time to develop techniques for expressing their thoughts and ideas.
Our pre-school program focuses on teaching children to be resilient, co-operative and collaborative. We extend children’s interests and encourage the expression of ideas: literacy and numeracy “ride along for free”. HCCC children attend a range of local schools when they leave.
Each child has a primary caregiver, who documents their learning in a portfolio. This portfolio is a “living document” that embraces the concepts of Belonging, Being and Becoming from the Australian Government’s Early Years Learning Framework.
We take a non-sexist and multicultural approach to educating young children. Our focus is on building each child's wellbeing by providing a safe, caring and supportive environment. Through our daily program and individual portfolios we are able to provide information to families about their child's interests and relationships.
The centre has a Management Committee of interested parents who meet once a month. This committee helps to make decisions about the operation of the centre and future planning.
It is a very important role and an excellent way of becoming involved within the life of the centre. Being a community based service; parental input is essential and always highly valued.
Hamilton Child Care Centre is staffed by a professional team of twelve educators. They include a teacher/director responsible for the day-to-day running of the centre and its educational program; advanced qualified childcare workers, an art educator, additional needs support worker, cook and office manager.
Our centre supports children with additional needs and has established links with inclusion support agencies. We believe that high quality care and education is only possible with high educator/child ratios and qualified educators.
We are influenced by the educators in Reggio Emilia, Italy and follow the Australian government’s Early Years Learning Framework to inform our practices.
Because of our innovative structure and programs we are a valuable resource for early childhood education student educators from a number of institutions in the Hunter region and beyond.
The daily fee for your child includes:
Our current full fee for 2015 is $85 per day for all ages. (fee amount is subject to change)
Families do not pay for public holidays and fees are calculated each year on a non-profit basis.
The Management Committee determines the annual budget based on the income from fees and ensures the centre operates effectively and efficiently. Any extra money is used for the improvement of the Centre’s facilities and educational materials.
