About Hamilton Child Care Centre

Hamilton Child Care Centre is a non-profit community owned long day care centre, which receives funding from the State Government. The Centre is accredited through the Federal Government Quality Improvement and Accreditation System and licensed by Community Services to provide a high quality care and educational program for 36 children per day, from 6 weeks to 6 years of age.

Child Care benefit and the Family Tax benefit are available to families through the Family Assistance Office. The Centre is managed by a committee of interested parents who meet monthly to ensure that the Centre operates effectively and efficiently. The annual budget is based on the income from fees, is subject to change and determined by the Management Committee.

The Daily fee for your child includes:

Morning and Afternoon Tea, lunch, drinks
Nappies and linen
Sunscreen
Children’s Insurance
Visiting Artists and Performers

The Centre has adopted a model of family grouping. This means that children of all ages are together throughout the day and are encouraged to see themselves as part of a larger community. The setting in a restored Federation house, provides opportunities for children to remain with their siblings and entitles the children to learn with, and relate to both older and younger peers. There is a genuine family atmosphere and home-like environment.

During the day we also provide opportunities for the different age groups to work separately on their own projects and interests. Our Art Educator works with small groups of children allowing time to develop techniques important when children need to express their thoughts and ideas.

Our pre-school program focuses on teaching children to be resilient, co-operative and collaborative. By extending children’s interests and encouraging the expression of ideas, literacy and numeracy “ride along for free”. Our pre-school children attend a range of local primary schools when they leave.

Staff

This centre recognises that high quality care and education is only possible with high staff/child ratios and qualified staff.

There are 12 staff at the centre including a teacher/director responsible for the day to day running of the centre including the educational program; advanced qualified child care workers, an art educator, additional needs support worker, cook and office manager.

We are influenced by the educators in Reggio Emilia, Italy and follow the Early Years Learning Framework to inform our practices.
