My name is Alex Sutherland. I completed my Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood/ Primary) (Hons) in 2019. I joined Hamilton Child Care Centre as an Early Childhood Teacher in 2020 on a two-day per week basis and have since increased my residency to full time. I spend my time primarily divided between our children aged 0-2 years and 4-5 years.
Fundamental to my practice is the art of listening. I believe that listening is a commitment to the right of every child to be heard, valued, accepted; and to exercise agency, contribute, learn, fully participate and belong. I value the critical time childhood is, as well as the role I, my colleagues, families and community play in holistically supporting children to be whoever they want to be.
